We say "McDonald's", They say "MacDo"

Lauren and I have been chatting online and she told me all about her experience of eating at a McDonald's in Rennes. She said that it was different than what we have here in the U.S. and offered some different menu items such as a popular hot ham & cheese sandwich found throughout France as well as potato wedges. And where here we use the nickname "Micky D's", the French say "MacDo", (pronounced MacDoo).
I wonder, do the French use their hands when they eat burgers at McDonald's? I forgot to ask.
