How Racism Works

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
And Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to? And Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? And Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5?

What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

You are The Boss... which team would you hire? With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc.

Educational Background:
Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)
versus

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire ?

It really is pathetic. There are times that I despair for the country, no matter how the election comes out. But the Libra in me keeps trying for optimism. Maybe there will be a breakthrough if Obama is elected.

I have actually wondered some of these same things.

I just bought a pre-owned copy of Norman's "Les Chemins de l'amour"! Thanks for the inspiration. ;)

Great post and insight into what racism is really about. Like JP said..it's really pathetic.

I don't know if this election has strengthened my pride in the American people, or weakened it. On one hand, I've seen numerous people get behind and vigorously support two non-traditional, minority candidates--a woman, and a black man and it has often brought tears to my eyes to think that we have come so far that the choice that the Democrats offered us came down between those two extraordinary people! And yet, when push came to shove, and when it was all decided, many of Hillary's supporters jumped ship, not because they were loyal to her, but because they couldn't bring themselves to support a black candidate. That sickens and saddens me. What's worse, is that many of them bought into McCain's cynical choice of Sarah Palin, simply because she was a woman. So what that told me was that it wasn't about America or the people of America at all for them.

Predjudice is an ugly thing and it's times like these that expose the ugliness for all the world to see.

Hello Lynette,

The whole world is watching and waiting to see what America's voter will choose to do during what I've been calling "America's Defining Moment." For the sake of our children, we cannot afford to make the wrong decision again.

I can hardly wait until the day President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama move into the Whitehouse. Imagine that!

A first-time visitor,

Manchild
