I'm so glad that you're enjoying my blog - so much so that today alone you've logged nine different visits, one had 8 page views and another had 5. What is it about my posts on Nancy Storace that has you so fascinated that you would return so many times in one day? If you really want to learn about her here's a link to my website on her life and career with loads of information. But that's not exactly what you're looking for, is it? Twice now you've tried to outclick on my link to my "So Faithful a Heart" blog. (So sorry mon petit chou, but you have to be invited to read that blog, and I don't think I'll be inviting you any time soon. You'll just have to wait until the book is published.)

In the meantime you might enjoy this. (I know you love Mozart.) Va te faire foutre, connasse!

It's official: The U.S. is in recession. No shit Sherlock! What gave you your first clue?

>> Monday, December 1, 2008

A government study was released today that offcially confirmed the "R" word. The study reveals that we've been in recession since December of 2007. I wonder how many millions out of the pockets of U.S. taxpayers it took to figure this one out?

On a related note--I just found out today that we're not getting bonuses this year. I work in a real estate office, so no big surprise here. I'm just thankful that I still have a job! Perhaps I'll get a bigger income tax refund to make up for it.

When hate is taught in the classroom

>> Wednesday, November 12, 2008

I was only just made privy to an incident which took place in an 8th grade classroom right here in Oklahoma last week. It seems that an 8th grade home economics teacher in Kansas, Oklahoma informed her class that although she was a registered Democrat, she could not vote for a Muslim. She went on to tell her class that Barack Obama was an atheist, (how one can be both an atheist and a Muslim simultaneously is a new one on me), and that his wife, Michelle, only said that he was a Christian to get votes. This misinformed hate speech then prompted several members of the teacher's class to announce that they wanted to "assassinate Obama".

I don't know about you, but this kind of thing really gets under my skin. This woman has been given a tremendous responsibility in the teaching of our young people and to visit hatred, ignorance, and lies upon her charge is not only unthinkable and irresponsible, but illegal. This needs to be brought to the attention of her superiors and this teacher needs to be severely disciplined. I have therefore provided information below where her superiors can be contacted. Let them know that this kind of hate speech coming from teachers in our Public School classrooms will not be tolerated!

Have at it!

Racism doesn't end with the election of a black president. Already President-Elect Obama has been the target of two assassination plots by white supremists and was the most heavily guarded Presidential candidate in U.S. history. He gave his acceptance speech at Grant Park from behind a two-inch thick bullet-proof glass and his security team includes a Police S.W.A.T. team of heavily armed guards. Family outings are a thing of the past. This is the price of being the first black president in our history.

It all boils down to racism

>> Thursday, October 30, 2008

I just had a situation come up here at work that has me so pissed off that my heart is still pounding over it. A group of people from our office were sitting around the table discussing the upcoming elections and different things about McCain and Obama. The typical rumors and untruths about Obama came into play--he's a Muslim, he's a socialist, etc. One by one, a woman in our office of mostly McCain supporters dispelled the untruths. THEN the issue about the birth certificate came up. Thus far, I had kept quiet, going about my business of filing, etc. But on this one I couldn't be silent. I turned around and said,

"You know, I really don't understand what this whole thing about Obama's birth certificate is all about. There is an official copy of his birth certificate on line that shows he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. If you want to see it, I have the URL. But the fact is, it really doesn't matter WHERE he was born. He could have been born anywhere in the world because he was born to a U.S. citizen, and that makes him a U.S. citizen too. And the other thing is that no one seems to question John McCain's citizenship even though he was born in Panama. I wonder why THAT is?"

They all just glared at me like I had just committed treason so I turned and walked away.

The truth of the matter is that they just can't accept the fact that a BLACK man is about to win the U.S. Presidency and they'll use ANYTHING as an excuse. "Oh no, we're not racist!"

So if this isn't stemming from racism why do they not question McCain's citizenship as well?

Ulgy, ugly, ugly...

Turns out "Joe the Plumber" is a fraud who owes back taxes to the State of Ohio

>> Thursday, October 16, 2008

This just in from the Associated Press!

By JOHN SEEWER, Associated Press Writer

HOLLAND, Ohio - Joe the Plumber's story sprang a few leaks Thursday. Turns out that the man who was held up by John McCain as the typical, hard-working American taxpayer isn't really a licensed plumber. And court documents show he owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes.

"Joe," whose name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, was cited repeatedly in Wednesday night's final presidential debate by McCain for questioning Barack Obama's tax policy.

Wurzelbacher instantly became a media celebrity, fielding calls during the debate and facing reporters outside his home near Toledo on Thursday morning for an impromptu nationally televised news conference.

The burly, bald man acknowledged he doesn't have a plumber's license, but said he didn't need one because he works for someone else at a company that does residential work.

But Wurzelbacher still would need to be a licensed apprentice or journeyman to work in Toledo, and he's not, said David Golis, manager and residential building official for the Toledo Division of Building Inspection.

State and local records show Wurzelbacher has no license, although his employer does. Golis said there are no records of inspectors citing Wurzelbacher for unlicensed work in Toledo.

And then there was the matter of his taxes.

Wurzelbacher owes the state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax, according to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records.

In January 2007, Ohio's Department of Taxation filed a claim on his property until he pays the debt, according to the records. The lien remains active.

At the debate, McCain cited Wurzelbacher as an example of someone who wants to buy a plumbing business but would be hurt by Obama's tax plans.

Wurzelbacher, a self-described conservative, had spoken to Obama at a rally Sunday near his home and asked him whether his tax plan would keep him from buying the business that currently employs him, which earns more than $250,000 a year.

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" Wurzelbacher asked.

Obama said that under his proposal taxes on any revenue from $250,000 on down would stay the same, but that amounts above that level would be subject to a 39 percent tax, instead of the current 36 percent rate.

McCain said Obama's plan would stop entrepreneurs such as Wurzelbacher from investing in new small businesses and keep existing ones from growing.

The McCain campaign posted a Web ad featuring the exchange between Wurzelbacher and Obama.

During an afternoon taping of "Late Night with David Letterman," McCain said he had not yet spoken to Wurzelbacher, and apologized for the press attention he had received.

"Joe, if you're watching, I'm sorry," McCain said.

Wurzelbacher had to deal with a clog of two dozen reporters outside his home on a narrow street lined with ranch- and split-level homes Thursday morning. No detail about the divorced father of a 13-year-old boy was too small: Was he a registered voter? Did he have a plumbing license? Whom will he vote for?

Leaning against his black Dodge Durango SUV, Wurzelbacher at first was amused by it all, then overwhelmed and finally a little annoyed.

"I don't have a lot of pull. It's not like I'm Matt Damon," he said "I just hope I'm not making too much of a fool of myself."

He indicated he was a fan of the military and McCain but wouldn't say who will get his vote. He is registered as a Republican, the county elections board said, because he voted in the GOP primary in March.

Wurzelbacher said a McCain campaign official contacted him several days before the debate to ask him to appear with the candidate at a Toledo rally scheduled for Sunday.

He told reporters he's unsure if he'll attend, since he's now scheduled to be in New York for TV interviews.

On Thursday in New Hampshire, Obama said McCain was misleading voters by proposing tax plans that favor the rich while criticizing an Obama tax plan that would raise taxes only on people making more than $250,000 a year, just 5 percent of all taxpayers.

"He's trying to suggest that a plumber is the guy he's fighting for," Obama said. "How many plumbers you know that are making a quarter-million dollars a year?"

Wurzelbacher said he felt a bit overwhelmed by all the attention.

"I'm kind of like Britney Spears having a headache. Everybody wants to know about it," he joked.

Bailout tests how much the American public will tolerate theft

Sean Olender

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Treasury Secretary Paulson's edict to create a $700 billion fund to buy worthless mortgage securities from agitated wealthy bond investors is nothing short of a final step on the path to the end of the republic. The secretary claims he can only be effective if his decisions are beyond judicial review.

Our government and its owners appear to be testing how much the American public will tolerate. A few years ago, no one could have imagined that the silent majority would quietly accept thefts of this magnitude from a government that stopped tiny payments to single mothers with poor children in the name of welfare reform because the program's $10 billion cost was breaking the federal budget.

This isn't socialism, it's fascism.

If the public allows this theft, then it will signal to powerful forces that they can essentially do anything, because the American public has become so mushy-headed that it will stand up for nothing. When power discovers that those from whom it would exact payment are powerless, its viciousness increases infinitely.

Our politicians appear on television and say, this is an emergency, so we have to do this now and talk about it later. And then later is too late.

It is not just a $700 billion bailout, it is a $700 billion fund that can have no more than $700 billion in liabilities at any one time. Maybe Goldman Sachs can sell mortgage-backed securities to the fund at 80 cents on the dollar and then the fund will liquidate the securities by selling them back to Goldman for 50 cents on the dollar. Then Goldman can sell them back to the fund for 85 cents on the dollar. That would be a good business, especially if no court can review it.

Our enemy has revealed itself, and it is our own government. The concentration of such outrageous power in government - the power to take the equivalent of half our annual federal budget and give it to anonymous investors - is nearly reaching the point at which it may not be revoked.

It is only natural that we, dreaming of the possibility of our own riches, acquiesced in some of these financial schemes. Of that, we should not be ashamed. Many Americans may now be thinking, "But suppose someday I am a wealthy bond investor worth $50 million?" But you are not a wealthy bond investor and the value of your house and stock investments is going to drop, regardless of how much tax money the government gives to wealthy bond investors. This bailout is essentially the federal government saying to creditors, "Because the American consumer appears to be refusing to pay his debts, we will buy your claims on the consumer, and exchange them for money created by issuing Treasury bills, which is our promise to extract that money from American consumers using our taxation authority."

Some day our children will call on us to explain how our republic was lost. I cannot imagine the shame of facing a grown child to explain, "Foolishly, I thought I would get some of the money, too."

Because the American public has not been introduced to methods for controlling its government for generations for generations, I will suggest one called a general strike. This fundamental democratic power is where everyone decides to send a message to the government by not going to work, to school, shopping, nowhere.

At this point in our history, very bad things are going to happen regardless of what we do. There is no government action that can alleviate the discomfort we must endure because of the wild speculation and reckless borrowing that ensued. What's coming is inescapable. This is the critical time when charlatans among us will promise they can save us from the inevitable if we only allow them the power they need to save us. They are lying. It is time to earn our freedom. It is time to remind the government that we are Americans and we have a history of subjecting tyrannical governments to unpleasant consequences.

SAY "NO" TO WALL STREET BAILOUT!

>> Monday, September 22, 2008

If you have never been involved in a political issue before there has never been a more important or crucial time in history than NOW, for you to get involved.

At this very moment the fate of this nation and its economic future hangs in the balance. President Bush has proposed a Wall Street Bailout to the tune of $700 billion dollars at the expense of the American Taxpayers! What this means is that Washington wants to bail out the big lenders and financial institutions along with their CEO's--the very corporations who created the lending and housing market crisis with their greed and mismanagement and REWARD THEM with an unprecedented billions of American taxpayers' dollars, leaving us standing in the wake of the greatest debt in the history of this nation and leaving us vulnerable to foreign markets and economies. George Bush and his failed economic policies, along with his buddies in the huge corporate towers have bankrupted this nation and brought us to the brink of economic depression--something we have not seen since the crash of 1929--and now they want the American people to REWARD THEM for their mismanagement, crookedness, and carelessness to the tune of $700 BILLION of our hard-earned tax dollars!

CALL, WRITE, EMAIL, YOUR REPRESENTATIVES IN WASHINGTON NOW! Tell them "NO" to bankrupting our children's future!

The Bush Doctrine: Let me Google it for you, Sarah.

>> Friday, September 12, 2008

The Bush Doctrine is a term used to describe various related foreign policy principles of United States president George W. Bush, enunciated in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The phrase initially described the policy that the United States had the right to treat countries that harbor or give aid to terrorist groups as terrorists themselves, which was used to justify the invasion of Afghanistan. Later it came to include additional elements, including the controversial policy of preventive war, which held that the United States should depose foreign regimes that represented a supposed threat to the security of the United States, even if that threat was not immediate (used to justify the invasion of Iraq), a policy of supporting democracy around the world, especially in the Middle East, as a strategy for combating the spread of terrorism, and a willingness to pursue U.S. military interests in a unilateral way. Some of these policies were codified in a National Security Council text entitled the National Security Strategy of the United States published on September 20, 2002. This represented a dramatic shift from the United States's Cold War policies of deterrence and containment, under the Truman Doctrine, and a departure from post-Cold War philosophies such as the Powell Doctrine and the Clinton Doctrine.

The first usage of the term to refer to the policies of George W. Bush may have been when conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer used the term in February 2001 to refer to the president's unilateral approach to national missile defense.

The main elements of the Bush Doctrine were delineated in a National Security Council document, National Security Strategy of the United States, published on September 20, 2002, and this document is often cited as the definitive statement of the doctrine. The National Security Strategy was updated in 2006.

Just exactly what does the VP do?

Well, Sarah, if some of the qualifications were "hunting and eating buffalo burgers", I suppose you'd be at the top of the list of the most qualified, but I don't think that those things are listed among the qualifications for the second in command of our country. I'm still trying to figure out just what qualifications you have that would appeal to all those disgruntled Hillary supporters. In fact, if I were one of them, I'd be rather insulted by McCain's choice of you for his running mate. You're no Hillary Clinton, that's for sure!

The inner waits for you?

>> Sunday, July 27, 2008

I can't tell you how many times I have checked my site meter and someone has come to my blog by googling the phrase "the inner waits for you". I'm sure that they're looking for the song by Billy Joel entitled, "Vienna Waits for You", from his album "The Stranger", but have misunderstood the lyrics.

So once and for all, I'm going to dispel the ignorance and give you the lyrics and the U-tube video of this song.

Billy Joel's father lives in Vienna. Many think there is a direct corollary between when he wrote this song and his return from a trip visiting his dad. Billy was asked about the significance of Vienna, and why it was dedicated a song, and replied (paraphrased by Ann M. Leonhardt (amlst20@pitt.edu)):

He told us that he was very impressed at the respect given to elders in Europe. One day he saw an old woman sweeping a public street with great pride, and it made an impression. He wanted people to realize that there is time in life to accomplish our goals and everything doesn't have to be at a break-neck speed. Instead of fearing old age as we do here, it should be anticipated and valued. So, instead of rushing to accomplish everything in youth you should remember, "Vienna waits for you."

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart
Tell me why are you are still so afraid?

Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do
And only so many hours in a day

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off
Before you even get halfway through
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be before your time
Although it's so romantic
On the borderline tonight

Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself that you forget what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong
You know you can't always see when you're right

You've got your passion, you've got your pride
But don't you know only fools are satisfied?
Dream on
But don't imagine they'll all come true
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It's alright
You can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize...
Vienna waits for you.

Shame on you, Mayor McMillian

>> Thursday, May 15, 2008

Once again, I am appalled and disgusted by the sheer childishness and arrogance displayed by a public official, only this time it's Stillwater's own mayor, Roger McMillian. For those of you who don't know, Mayor McMillian, who is the current president of our branch of The Bank N.A. has been sued by three female employees, (two of them are now former employees), for sexual harassment or in their words, for creating a "sexually charged, and hostile work environment" by engaging in derogatory and sexually demeaning behavior and language directed at female employees and even bank customers.

Steph has written a great entry about it, so I'm going to direct you to her blog where you can read in more detail about this disgusting and embarrassing turn of events.

I'm completely appalled.
