The World's most beautiful music: John Williams' theme from Schindler's List

>> Friday, February 27, 2009

An incredibly touching piece from possibly one of the most important and inspired films in history. Schindler's List should be required viewing in all American high schools, in my humble opinion.

Played here by the incomparable Izak Pearlman. If you've never heard this, I warn you, get your box of kleenx.

This music is heart rendingly beautiful. Even if you have never seen the film, it stands on its own. Haunting and poignant.

No matter how many times I watch "Schindler's List", I still cry at this music. Especially near the end of the film, when Oskar Schindler has to leave his Jewish workers/friends and is crying because he feels he didn't do enough. Gets me every time.
