The Sopranos: The great Jessye Norman

>> Sunday, January 18, 2009

By far one of the greatest sopranos in history is the wonderful Jessye Norman. Here singing in concert the Contessa's aria, Dove sono, from Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Norman presents one of the most magnificent performances of this aria I've ever heard.

Wow! Just fantastic!

Listening to this clip makes you realize how demanding operatic roles are: not only do you have to learn to pronounce the language, you have to understand the meaning, convey that in your performance, be able to act - all of that on top of the singing!

I say again: Wow!
