Yesterday was the day, and I missed it, but I still wanted to offer up something in celebration of the occasion, for the sonnets of Mr. Shakespeare are among my very favorite of his writings. The following is a lovely piece, read by the one and only Alan Rickman, Shakespeare's Sonnet number 130.
Whichever one chooses, they're all wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed my selection yesterday. And thank you for your comment today on my own pale offerings!
I'm not sure that the pictures or the song really fit this sonnet. 130 is not a love poem, in fact I'd venture to say it's rather the opposite. Whenever I hear or read it, I get the impression of someone who resents the fact that he ever fell in love with such a woman in pointing out her various faults. It's almost sarcastic.
