Hi Lynette,
Having seen this production, I know this is a powerful performance all through.
Derrick,
Steph and I were fortunate to see the Met Telecast of this particular performance several months ago. This was the performance in which Beczala, who was not scheduled to sing that night, was sitting in the audience. The regularly scheduled tenor was ill and so they called Beczala from out of the audience to perform. It so-happened to be the night that they were recording it for their telecast and the rest is history. Beczala being a brand new talent on the circut, attained instant acclaim when audiences world-wide heard him sing for the first time. He's now my very favorite operatic tenor.
Madam..in the absence of Herr Mozart at the forthcoming Ball, would you do me the inestimable honour of adding my name to your dance card?
I remain ever your servant.
Lord M
Kind Lord M,
I shall be most honoured to place your name upon my dance card. *blushing*
