Revenge of the ghostly kind: Tevye's dream

>> Tuesday, October 21, 2008

One of the greatest and most colorful ghosts in film history has to be Fruma Sarah, the one in the dream that Tevye made up to convince his wife Golde, that their daughter, Tzeitel should marry the tailor, Motel instead of the butcher, Lazar Wolf in the 1971 film based on the hit Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof. Featured are the great Topol as Tevye and Norma Crane as Golde.

Willow,

"Fiddler" has always been one of my favorite musicals and Fruma Sarah one of my favorite ghosts. I had to include her in this series of ghosts in film, or I'm afraid that she might "come to me by night, take me by the throat", and...well, you know the rest!

WT sings "If I was a Rich Man" every Thanksgiving. We have one of those "singing" families and after the meal has digested, we all sing show tunes and arias until we drop.
